How did I get here?
Via ski-racing and the mountains, 12 years of ski–race coaching British ski-racers; from small children to international and Olympic athletes, ultimately coaching and managing the National Youth teams.
Then via arranging adventure, challenge and work in outback Australia for GAP year students from all over the world. Most recently as Executive Director of the British Schools Exploring Society, from 2005 to 2010.
I founded IYD as a social enterprise company in late 2010. The sledge pull is our first major event. We are already providing opportunities that inspire and motivate young people, and we plan to be doing it a lot more in the years ahead, finding ways to Inspire young people in ways that also develop skills that will be highly useful to them in their careers.

We have also been lucky enough to secure the services of committed and experienced professionals as we have built up this project. You can read a little about some of them here.
Sarah Payne - Project Consultant LinkedIn Sarah
I have 15 years experience of working for consultancies and corporate organisations in the area of leadership development, both in the UK and overseas. I specialise in development programmes incorporating corporate social responsibility, helping companies work effectively with their charity partners and with the communities in which they operate. I also work directly with charities primarily in areas of young people and the environment.
I've travelled extensively and have climbed Kilimanjaro, abseiled and skydived all for charity. I love adventure - I'm a great fan of climbing, horse-riding, scuba-diving and caving (yes, including those very small spaces!). I feel very priviledged to be a part of the team.

I have 10 years experience of working with young people on various teaching, pastoral, fundraising and team building projects. I have travelled widely in Southeast Asia and worked as a volunteer at a missionary school in Zambia. Since graduating in Geography at the University of Southampton, I worked in marketing for the British Schools Exploring Society and have recently returned from a six week Arctic Expedition with them. I was also fortunate to be selected as the British Ambassador on the UNESCO endorsed 2009 Connecting Cultures expedition in the desert of Oman. …and now I’m excited to be working for Inspire Youth Development!
